Artist and Photographer Kelly Frizelle’s work has been described as an exploration through alternative perspective and creative processes, delivering an abstract metaphor between the tangible forms existing in the environment, and a spiritual connection to the land.

Never one to ‘play by the rules’ Kelly has always extended herself through her creative processes. Her early work in the 1990’s focused on the Australian landscape and the human form.

Working with mixed media – Acrylic, Oils, Pastels, Ink, Charcoal and Chalks on paper, Kelly often surprised her peers by tearing up the finished work and re-imagining it in a collage like manner. Recent works have seen her re-visit this idea in a digital format, then applying mixed media onto the printed works.

Frizelle’s training has seen her complete a Bachelor of Design (Exhibition & Product Design), Certificate in Disciplines of Painting, Certificate in Art Direction for Film & Television and a Diploma of Photography & Digital Imaging.

The artist has been influenced in her career with a lifelong obsession with Art & Design, Architecture, Fashion and Advertising, and her CV is a testament to this finding success in the areas of Fashion and Interiors (Windows & Merchandising, Styling for seasonal ad campaigns & International and National Wholesale for high end designers) and most recently working as a photographer, post production / studio manager for a commercial photography business in Sydney Australia for over 9 years.

Kelly draws inspiration from her immediate environment, music, and artists such as Fred Williams, Gerhard Richter, Nick Knight, Brett Whiteley, John Olsen and Australian Indigenous Artists as a collective.
